A.K.M Shahidul Haque is 26th Inspector General of Bangladesh. He directed many operations successfully in his 30 years long career in Bangladesh Police. He came from a rural area of Shariatpur from a respected muslim family. He served for three UN peacekeeping missions and got the UN Peace Medal for his performance.

Early Life and Education

A.K.M Shahidul Haque was born at Narkalikata, Naria in Shariatpur District. He completed his studies from Dhaka University. He joined the Bangladesh Police in 1986.

Career

The 26th Inspector General of Bangladesh is A.K.M. Shahidul Haque. He successfully oversaw numerous operations during his 30-year career with the Bangladesh Police. He participated in three UN peacekeeping deployments, and for his efforts, he was awarded the UN Peace Medal.  As an assistant superintendent, he joined the Bangladesh Police in 1986. He also held posts at Police Headquarters, SP Sirajganj, Chittagong, Moulvibazar, and Chandpur, as well as Police Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DIG Chittagong Range, DIG Rajshahi Range, and DIG (Finance and Development). He held the position of Secretary of Bangladesh Police as Additional IGP (Administration and Operations) before being promoted to IGP.

Cases Operated by Him

He was quite successful in his 30 year career. He succeeded in reducing militancy and drug smuggling during his period. In 2017, 35 anti-militancy drives were conducted around the nation, 57 members of suicide squads of militant groups were slain, and over 100 others were detained. He also served with the International Crimes Tribunal against the war criminals of 1971. He also covered the case of the Dhaka attack on July 1, 2016. Though the victims were brutally killed by the militants, the police were successful in revealing the case.
