A BIOGRAPHY OF PROF. DR.ABM ABDULLAH
Prof. Dr. ABM Abdullah was born in 1954. He was a professor at BSMMU’s Internal Medicine Department. In addition, ABM Abdullah served as the dean of the faculty of Medicine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Currently, he is the personal physician of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In 2016, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak by the Bangladeshi government.

Early Life and Education:
ABM Abdullah was born in Islampur upazila under Jamalpur district. He started his education at Hariyabari Primary School and completed his secondary education from Islampur Nekjahan High School in 1969. After completing his higher secondary education from Dhaka College in 1972, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College. In 1978 he obtained his MBBS degree. He later earned an MRCP degree from the UK and an FRCP degree from Edinburgh.
Career
Abdullah provided medical services in the village for some time after passing MBBS. Later, he became a physician at Dhaka Medical College. He spent five years practicing medicine in Saudi Arabia before being accepted in 1992 to the Royal College of Physicians in London. After earning his MRCP from there, he moved here and spent two years working as a consultant in Holy Family Medical College’s department of medicine. He was hired as an Assistant Professor by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (formerly PG Hospital) in 1995 after passing the PSC test. Later, after serving as the Professor and Dean of the Department of Medicine of BSMMU, he was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Personal Physician on 24 December 2019 as the Secretary ranked staff.
ABM Abdullah often writes on raising public awareness of health issues. Short Cases in Clinical Medicine, Long Cases in Clinical Medicine, ECG in Medical Practice, Case History and Data Interpretation in Medical Practice, Radiology in Medical Practice, and Practical Manual in Clinical Medicine are just a few of the more than six medical books he has written for medical students. He wrote a number of medical publications, all of which are taught in medical schools throughout the Arab world, including those in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom.
Humanitarian work
On his own property, he constructed a 4400 square foot masjid at Hariabari, Islampur upazila, Jamalpur district, with a variety of amenities. In his hamlet, he has also established a hafiziya madrasa where the kids of farmers, rickshaw pullers, and day workers may go to school. For fifteen years, he has been in charge. They are frequently hired by masjids and madrasas. Every year, on average, 80 students enroll. On his own property, he has built a community clinic next to the madrasa. The government offers its assistance, but it is insufficient to provide universal access to healthcare. He has hired employees and given them emergency supplies like nebulizer, diabetes test machine, blood pressure monitor machine, medicines etc.
