“Nayak Raj” the term itself dignifies his identity. He is none other than the most iconic figure in the history of the Bangladeshi film industry, Abdur Razzak. He was one of the most talented actors as well as at the same time a famous film director in the Dhallywood film industry. For his outstanding acting in the history, he is still known as the “Nayak Raj Razzak” to the nation. In 2015, Abdur Razzak has won “The Independence Day Award” from the Government of Bangladesh for his magnificent performance in the film industry.

Early Life of AbdurRazzak:

Abdur Razzak was born on 23 January 1942. His place of birth was Naktala, South Kolkata, Bengal Presidency, British India. He was the son of Akbar Hossain and Nisarunnesa. In his early childhood of life, he lost his father. Shockingly, just right after eight months after his father’s death, he lost his mother also. Abdur Razzak was grown up in Kolkata, India and also studied there.  He went to Mumbai in 1961 in order to get the diploma at the “Filmalaya Film Institute”. But unfortunately, his work got tougher for the Communal Violence in Calcutta during the year 1964. Later in the same year, he moved to Dacca and tried for the nascent East Pakistani film industry.

In Dhaka, Abdur Razzak managed to work with Abdul Jabbar Khan’s Film named “Iqbal” as well as assisted Kamal Khan’s Film named “Ujala”. Later, he also worked in some small roles in the films named “Akheri Station” and “Tero Nombor Feku Ostagor Lane”.

First Debut:

In the film business Abdur Razzak made his first presentation with the motion picture “RatanLal Bengali” in Kolkata.

Film Career of Nayak Raj:

In the acting career of Abdur Raj Razzak, Salahuddin production’s movie “Tero Nombor Feku Ostagor Lane” brings him a quantum leap.

In 1966, Zahir Raihan was in search of a fabulous actor for the lead role of his new film “Behula”. Luckily, that time Abdur Razzak was working as one of his assistants and Zahir Raihan chose him for the film. So, Abdur Razzak got the chance to show his tremendous acting skill.

Then back to back in the year 1970, Abdur Razzak acted in a lot of quality films like “Abirbhab”, “Moynamoti”, “Taka Ana Pai”, “Dorpochurno” as well as “Jibon Theke Neya” and there again he showed his terrific acting skill. After the Liberation War in 1971, he acted in a number of films like “Manuser Mon”, “Ora Egaro Jon” and “Osru Diye Lekha”.

In 1974, Nayak Raj got his crucial breakthrough by acting in the film “Rongbaj” which was an action film and was directed by talented director Zahirul Haq.

He acted successfully in more than three hundred Bengali and Urdu films and directed sixteen motion pictures.

As a Bangladeshi Prominent artist, he was featured in many prominent films named “Neel Akasher Nichey”, “Moner Moto Bou”, “Swaralipi” etc. Abdur Razzak presented a terrific performance in the film “Baba Keno Chakor” with his son Bappa Raj. This motion picture made a ferocious mix enough in the movies that were similarly popular in both Dhaka and Kolkata.

Co-working with other Actors:

Abdur Razzak has acted with many magnificent actors like Shabana, Bobita, Kobori, Shuchanda, Shabnam, Ilias Kanchan, Bulbul Ahmed, Anwar Hossain, SohelRana and many others. Among them, the on screen chemistry between Razzak and actress Shabana was much acclaimed and popular to the audience.

Career as Film Director and Producer:

Abdur Razzak successfully directed sixteen movies. As a five-time National Award winning on screen actor, he has additionally gained popularity as a successful film director and producer. He started his producer career with the film named “Akankha” in 1976.

Career as UNFPA Minister:

Apart from the marvelous Actor, Director and Producer of film industry, AbdurRazzak was also served the responsibilities of a UNFPA. He was likewise the establishing leader of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association. 

Independence Day Award:

He was honored with the “Independence Day Award” in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh for his outstanding performance in the film Industry.

Family of “Nayak Raj” AbdurRazzak:

Abdur Razzak was married to Khairunnesa Laxmi. Together they are blessed with five children. Three sons named Bapparaj, Bappi and Samrat and two daughters named Nasrin Pasha Shampa and Afrin Alam Moyna. As a token of his love for his lovely wife, Abdur Razzak built a luxurious commercial building “Rajlaxmi Complex” as his wife named.

Death of “Nayak Raj” Abdur Razzak:

The legendary Film Actor of Bangladesh has passed on heart attack on August 21, 2017, in the United Hospital Dhaka. He was admitted to the hospital at 5:20 PM with the claim of being heart attack. In spite of all the efforts to cure him from the hospital authorities, Abdur Razzak passed away at 6:13 PM.

Nayak Raj Razzak is a lifetime legend who cannot be forgotten and will be remembered forever to the nation.
